As a Wheelchair Van Driver, you will be responsible for transporting patients safety to and from medical appointments. You will be required to accompany our patients during their medical appointments and assist them in transferring to/from the wheelchair when necessary.

Job Duties:

  • Transports patients safely in an wheelchair van to and from medical appointments.
  • Provides quality patient care while enroute to the receiving facility.
  • Thoroughly documents medical care given to patients in EHR system.
  • Obtains necessary signatures and paperwork for each transport.
  • Operates MedEx vehicles while complying with North Carolina State Law and company policies.
  • Communicates with regularly with dispatch team regarding location, patient status, and other relevant information.
  • Demonstrates the ability to safely secure patient in wheelchair and load into vehicle (must be able to lift and carry 125 pounds)
  • Upon request provides assistance to the receiving medical facility staff.
  • Maintains vehicle in efficient operating condition
  • Ensures that the vehicle is clean, washed and kept in a neat orderly condition
  • Determines that vehicle is in proper mechanical condition by performing daily check off sheets and reporting known issues.
  • Ensures equipment is in a state of readiness and reports repair of any malfunctioning equipment.
  • Assists in completing any office duties, which may include cleaning office and living space.
  • Attends continuing education and refresher training programs as required by employer.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Possess a valid State Driver’s License.
  • Driving record in compliance with MedEx Safety and Driving policy.
  • Must be physically able to meet the demands of the position.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test.
